Yes you seemed nervous in this interview. I agree with your description: accessible literary fiction. I really think the interview somehow played down the most powerful part of the story. This is a story about love and the complexities of relationship. That you worked with deep feeling as a writer is no surprise as I ‘felt deeply’ through the entire read and a friend who messaged me on FB to chat about it (after she read it with my recommendation), spoke about how the book touched her too – because she too, like so many, had felt that regret of leaving someone you loved and wanting to come back to them. For me what hit the spot most was the recognition of the quality of love Behrooz and Maya shared, that extraordinary experience of being appreciated and understood as who you are. So many beautiful memorable scenes!
